Comparing dice towers I have owned
Comparing dice towers I have owned
@finn

I've owned four dice towers. Two were great, two were terrible. Here's what I learned.

Two dice towers side by side on a wooden table

What matters

Factor Why
Inside surface Felt or rubber. Plastic-on-plastic is loud and bounces dice out the bottom.
Bottom tray depth Too shallow and a d20 will jump the wall. Too deep and you can't read the result.
Footprint If it doesn't fit between your dice tray and your character sheet, you'll stop using it.
Weight Light = it walks across the table over the night. Heavy = it stays put.

What doesn't matter

Looks. I had a beautiful laser-cut tower that I never used because the felt was bad and the dice rolled out of the bottom. The plywood one I have now is ugly and gets used every session.

A scuffed plywood tower next to a glossy 3D-printed one

Function beats finish. Buy the boring one.
